Formed in 2020, we are marigold consulting, a Buffalo-based boutique community and environmental planning firm partnering with developers, agencies, municipalities, and others to provide stakeholder-informed solutions to today's challenges.
We help clients anticipate challenges and minimize risk, engage diverse stakeholders in robust dialogue, and implement solutions that benefit the communities where we live, work, and play.

evelopment of the wind turbines on
Lake Erie, permitting of solar panels in rural New York, and successful cleanup of contaminated industrial sites required a sensitive, strategic, and inclusive approach.
Alternatively, projects that don't engage authentically and collaboratively often fail.
Through Marigold, I get to work with communities and teams on issues that are important to them while advancing business objectives of the project sponsor: it’s a win-win.
OUR FOUNDER
Deepali Kaur McCloe was born in India and raised in Buffalo, New York. With 20 years' experience in community and environmental planning and a passion for dialogue, Deepali brings a project manager's mindset and collaborative spirit to projects in the renewables, planning, transportation, and remediation sectors and beyond.

marigold worked on behalf of a commercial solar developer to design and implement tailored public involvement programs for multiple solar projects throughout New York State. We worked with multi-disciplinary project teams, farmers, residents, elected officials, and agencies as follows:
- engaged stakeholders in 1:1 meetings, landowner meetings, and open houses;
- developed content for print and digital media (community profiles, newsletters, web site updates, mailings, and poster displays;
- Facilitated panel discussions to share objective information on project benefits and impacts; and
- awarded donations, student scholarships, and other benefits to host communities.
marigold's founder led the stakeholder engagement effort in support of the five-county Western New York Regional Sustainability Plan under NYSERDA’s Cleaner, Greener Communities program. Deepali performed the following activities:
- Led working groups, subject matter experts, and the public in substantive dialogue around water management, energy, land use/livable communities, transportation, waste management, agriculture/forestry, and economic development;
- Planned two phases of public meetings to introduce the project and present findings; and
- Facilitated 10 public meetings to engage the project team and members of the public in interactive discussions around strategies, indicators, and projects for each resource area.
For a Western New York winery facing neighborhood opposition due to quality of life concerns, marigold:
- facilitated productive conversations through one-on-one interviews with local officials, the project owner, and neighbors;
- recommended measures to mitigate impacts; and
- presented an application for Special Use Permit that was granted without conditions.
This inclusive process built bridges between the business and its neighbors and served as the foundation for future collaboration and success.
